In 2023, JoJo Gentry created Compound Methods, LLC to help companies and individuals in their media, public relations, and business journeys. 

JoJo brings to the table nearly 10 years of professional on-air sports journalism experience with CBS, FOX, and regional networks, including Bally Sports Indiana. Following her time as a journalist, JoJo worked in public relations, managing reputations of two top ten Fortune 500 companies, local politicians and government offices, and a dozen small businesses. 

JoJo is an adjunct professor at Butler University’s Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media. Teaching “Sports Shooting and Editing,” JoJo prepares students to cover sports in front of and behind the camera as multimedia journalists.

Since 2020, JoJo has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Golf Foundation and Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Indiana. In 2022, she was appointed Advisory Board Chair to drive advocacy for more than 70,000 Hoosiers living with epilepsy. JoJo is based in Indianapolis and enjoys traveling for work and pleasure.

JoJo’s Credentials

Two months after graduating from Butler University in May 2015, JoJo started her journalism career at CBS44/FOX44 in Evansville, Indiana as the weekend sports anchor/reporter. In 2017, she was promoted to Sports Director, becoming the first female to hold that position in the market’s local television history. JoJo was inducted into the Greater Evansville Sports Hall of Fame for her four years of innovative, in-depth coverage of local high school, college, and professional sports.

JoJo jumped to her hometown market of Indianapolis in 2019, joining FOX59/CBS4 as a sports anchor/reporter. Professional highlights of her two and a half years with the station include earning an Emmy nomination for her coverage of the Indianapolis Colts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, JoJo covered in-person the entire 2021 NCAA Tournament across Indiana, and the 2020 Indianapolis 500, without fans for local and national television affiliates. She also covered the Indiana Pacers, IndyCar, NASCAR, Big Ten Conference and Big East Conference teams, and notable local high school teams and athletes.

JoJo remains a TV and radio sideline reporter for Indiana high school state championships airing LIVE on Bally Sports Indiana, Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) TV, and the IHSAA Champions Radio Network.

Transitioning to public relations in 2021 as the Director of Strategic Communications at Bar Communications in Indianapolis, JoJo was trusted to manage reputations of two top ten Fortune 500 companies, local politicians and government offices, and a dozen small businesses.

In 2023, JoJo chaired the Epilepsy Foundation of Indiana’s 2023 Walk to END EPILEPSY and inaugural Seizure Smart Conference at Butler University. The foundation exceeded its $35,000 fundraising goal with its highest number of attendees ever.

JoJo was granted a full-tuition scholarship to study journalism at Butler University. She was also a member of the women’s golf team and Delta Gamma sorority. She graduated from Butler as “The Most Outstanding Female Journalism Student” in 2015 for her unmatched, competitive commitment to excellence. JoJo was a reporter and host for her college TV shows and completed news internships at WTHR-TV and WISH-TV in Indianapolis.

JoJo was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, located roughly 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Attending Lapel High School, JoJo found her niche as an effective leader and communicator while captain of the varsity tennis and golf teams, guiding both programs to set several school records.
