JOJO’S JOURNEY

FROM THE MIDWEST TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Small town girl with big dreams

Moving to Oceanside from Indianapolis in Fall 2024, JoJo is thrilled to establish herself as a California resident.

Upon arriving to the West Coast, JoJo became a First Tee Mentor, committing to support for four years a First Tee Scholar undergraduate student with their academic, personal, and professional development. She was also a member of the PGA Tour's 2025 Farmers Insurance Open Media Committee at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California.

JoJo was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, located roughly 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis. Attending Lapel High School, JoJo found her niche as an effective leader and communicator while captain of the varsity tennis and golf teams, guiding both programs to set several school records.

JoJo was granted a full-tuition scholarship to study journalism at Butler University. She was also a member of the women’s golf team and Delta Gamma sorority. She graduated from Butler as “The Most Outstanding Female Journalism Student” in 2015. JoJo was a reporter and host for her college TV shows and completed news internships at WTHR-TV and WISH-TV in Indianapolis.

UNMATCHED COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

Two months after graduating from Butler University in May 2015, JoJo started her journalism career at CBS44/FOX44 in Evansville, Indiana as the weekend sports anchor/reporter. In 2017, she was promoted to Sports Director, becoming the first female to hold that position in the market’s local television history. JoJo was inducted into the Greater Evansville Sports Hall of Fame for her four years of innovative, in-depth coverage of local high school, college, and professional sports.

COVERING HER HOMETOWN

JoJo jumped to her hometown market of Indianapolis in 2019, joining FOX59/CBS4 as a sports anchor/reporter. Professional highlights of her two and a half years with the station include earning an Emmy nomination for her coverage of the Indianapolis Colts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, JoJo covered in-person the entire 2021 NCAA Tournament across Indiana, and the 2020 Indianapolis 500, without fans for local and national television affiliates. She also covered the Indiana Pacers, IndyCar, NASCAR, Big Ten Conference and Big East Conference teams, and notable local high school teams and athletes.

MANIFESTING MEANINGFUL MESSAGING

From 2020 to 2024, she served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Golf Foundation and the Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Indiana. In 2022, JoJo was appointed Advisory Board Chair, leading advocacy efforts for more than 70,000 Hoosiers living with epilepsy, a neurological disease without a cure.

In 2023, JoJo chaired the Epilepsy Foundation of Indiana’s 2023 Walk to END EPILEPSY and inaugural Seizure Smart Conference at Butler University. The foundation exceeded its $35,000 fundraising goal with its highest number of attendees ever. Her impact guided both foundations to exceed their respective participation and fundraising goals.

NOTHING LIKE LIVE TV

JoJo returned to Butler University in Spring 2024 as an adjunct professor teaching “Sports Shooting and Editing” for the Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Media. She prepared 20 students to cover sports in front of and behind the camera as multimedia journalists.

She remains a freelance TV and radio sideline reporter. She has especially enjoyed covering the Indiana high school state championships airing LIVE on Bally Sports Indiana, Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) TV, and the IHSAA Champions Radio Network.
